Dounia: The Great White North Special Screening

We are screening two children's films about the Syrian girl Dounia's journey from Syria to Canada. The films will be shown at the bike workshop in Urtegata 11 on Saturday, April 5. Both screenings are completely free!

Urtegata 11 is Grønland’s hub – a vibrant space where artists and individuals can explore, create, and share their passion for art and culture. Arab Film Days and Urtegata 11 are collaborating for the first time on a free screening of two charming films about Dounia.

Program:

  • 12.00 – Screening: DOUNIA AND THE PRINCESS OF ALEPPO | The film is in Arabic with Norwegian subtitles.
  • 13.30 – Storytime with Rania Abdulla | Between screenings, there will be a storytelling session with Rania Abdulla. Rania is an Arabic language teacher with a bachelor's degree in Arabic language and a diploma in Montessori education, and she has 15 years of experience teaching children.
  • 14.00 – Screening: DOUNIA: THE GREAT WHITE NORTH | The film is in English with English subtitles.

About the films:

Dounia and the Princess of Aleppo tells the story of six-year-old Dounia, who embarks on a dangerous yet magical journey with her grandparents, guided along the way by the Princess of Aleppo.

In Dounia: The Great White North, Dounia has arrived in her new homeland, Canada, where there is plenty of snow – a stark contrast to Aleppo in Syria!

This event is a collaboration between Urtegata.co at UG11 and Arab Film Days.
