Fashion Show: The Moroccan Caftan
On Saturday, April 5th, at 17:45, there will be a fashion show featuring Moroccan caftans by Moroccan Wear in the basement of Vika Kino.
The Moroccan Caftan: A History of Elegance and Tradition
The Moroccan caftan has a long and regal history, with roots dating back to the 12th century under the Almohad dynasty. Originally a garment for kings and sultans, it later became an essential part of Moroccan wedding traditions. In the 16th century, Sultan Ahmed Al-Mansour developed the Takshita, a more refined version of the caftan.
By the 19th century, the caftan had spread internationally, inspiring European artists and later being embraced by fashion houses such as Kenzo and Jean-Paul Gaultier. Today, it is a luxurious work of art worn by both celebrities and fashion-conscious individuals. The caftan is not just a garment—it is a living legacy of Moroccan culture and craftsmanship.
The event is a collaboration between Moroccan Wear and Arab Film Days festival.
