«Oh, I come from a land, from a faraway place...». One charming thief, one immensely beautiful princess and one wizard whose evil seems limitless. You might think it to be just another Disney fairytale, but Aladdin has that special something you might have been looking for in the dime-a-dozen portrayal of good and evil on the movie screens today. All is possible in Agrabah – an Oriental city of a time long past. The additional dimension of the movie is much owed to Genie – the genie in the lamp whose allusions to biblical stories, literary masterpieces and everything in between soon turns into a merciless mockery of celebrities, American presidents and all the well-known clichés. It is a whirlwind of laughs, jokes and emotional jewels for the kids. And for those of the grownups who are able to keep up: a finely crafted dialogue rarely seen in this genre of movies.
