25-year-old Hedi is caught between passion and his duties in this Berlinale Silver Bear winner. Hedi is a car salesman, but the sales are slow as a result of the country’s unstable economy and Hedi’s lack of interest for his job. He feels depressed, even though he is getting married to the beautiful Khadija in a few weeks. His depression may be a result of his over-bearing mother, who is planning his future in detail. Or it could be because he has never really had a conversation with Khedija, let alone kissed her. But suddenly – just a couple of days before the wedding – he meets Rim. Feelings he never knew he had are stirred up. Who will he choose: Rim or Khedija?

Mohamed Ben Attia (b. 1976) is a writer-director from Tunisia, best known for his work with Romantisme from 2004. He studied finance before getting into filmmaking. Hedi is Attia’s first feature film, and the movie won the award for best first feature and the Silver Bear for best male actor at last year’s Berlinale.
