Arzé
Arzé tries to expand her pie business in economically troubled Beirut. One day, the scooter she invested in is stolen, leading her on a journey through different parts of the city.
Arzé lives with her son, Kinan, and her sister in Beirut, a city struggling economically. She makes pies, which Kinan delivers to customers on demand. To help him make more deliveries per day, she buys a scooter. One day, the scooter is stolen, and Arzé and Kinan set out to find it. Following various leads, their search takes them through different parts of the city, each with its own distinct atmosphere.
Even though the film deals with serious themes, it is infused with a liberating and contagious humor. And not least, one quickly becomes impressed by Arzé’s relentless determination.
The film has been screened at several international festivals, including Tribeca in the USA and Cairo, where it won awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor.
