Rashid Masharawi founded the Masharawi Fund in November 2023—a fund created to support filmmakers from Gaza. From Ground Zero is the result of their first project, a collection of 22 short films, each ranging from three to six minutes in length. The filmmakers were given complete freedom in their choice of genre and storytelling format. The collection includes everything from documentaries and hybrid films to drama, stop-motion animation, essay films, and experimental video art.
The result is a truly unique and important snapshot in time – a series of testimonies from the Palestinian people, subjected to genocide committed by Israel and its supporters.
