My Uncle Jens
The teacher Akam lives a comfortable life in Oslo until his Kurdish uncle pays an unexpected visit. Onkel Jens is a dramedy about culture clash, balancing humor and melancholy at the same time.
The premiere screening on Thursday, April 3, will have Norwegian subtitles. The screenings on April 5 and 6 will have English subtitles.
Despite the limited space in his shared apartment, Akam feels obligated to offer him a place to stay for a couple of nights. The unabashed uncle quickly makes himself at home, and it soon becomes clear that he has no plans to leave anytime soon. Akam begins to sense that something is off—could there be more behind his uncle's spontaneous visit? The truth could have unforeseen consequences for them both.
The film had its world premiere in March 2025 at the festival South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
