Who do I belong to?
A gripping story about a Tunisian mother torn between her love for her sons and her desire to uncover the truth when one of her sons returns home after fighting for the Islamic State.
The two sons, Mehdi and Amine, left their homeland, and only Mehdi returned several years later. He brings with him a pregnant woman who is veiled and silent. The homecoming creates unrest in the small town, especially when residents begin to disappear under mysterious circumstances. Over three chapters, Who Do I Belong To? combines family drama with supernatural elements, telling a compelling story about motherhood, societal norms, and the tension between the modern and the traditional.
The film had its world premiere in the Main Competition at the Berlinale in 2024 and is supported by Sørfond, which is managed by Stiftelsen Festivalkontoret and the Norwegian Film Institute.
