Focus on Palestinian Narratives

Last year, Palestinian cinema was given special focus at the festival. Due to Israel’s ongoing war crimes and possible genocide, we believed it was especially important to acknowledge the Palestinian narrative. It feels unreal that we are still witnessing the atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank.

Palestinian culture is at risk of being erased, and that makes it more important than ever to highlight the powerful human stories from the region. We continue our commitment to cultural diversity and freedom of expression by showcasing Palestinian films at Arab Film Days – also at this year’s festival.

This is not just about watching films; it’s about immersing yourself in a rich cultural heritage through gripping storytelling. So take the unique opportunity to experience Palestinian cinema at Arab Film Days.

This year’s program features six Palestinian feature films, a selection of animated Palestinian short films, and the short film program FROM GROUND ZERO, created by filmmakers in Gaza during the Israeli bombings. We will also welcome two Palestinian filmmakers, and Hilde Henriksen Waage will give a short lecture ahead of the screening of 200 METERS.

On the same day the festival opens – April 2nd – we encourage you to start your day with «Amnestyfrokost: Folkemordet fortsetter – Kan Norge gjøre en forskjell?» at Kulturhuset at 8:30 AM.
