AÏCHA

AÏCHA
Aya feels trapped in her job as a housemaid at a luxury hotel in a Tunisian desert town, as well as in an unhealthy relationship. When she survives a bus accident as the sole survivor, she seizes the opportunity to start anew. After the accident, she changes her name to Amira and travels to the capital, Tunis, hoping for a fresh start. The city offers new opportunities but also new dangers. After a night out, she witnesses a murder and becomes entangled in a police investigation that exposes deep-seated corruption within the Tunisian police force.
MARIAM'S CHOICE

MARIAM'S CHOICE
Mariam is the mother of a family of six, whom we meet in this Egyptian dramedy. She is also the first one to be confronted with a moral dilemma: her boss offers her a million pounds to help him leave this world. One by one, we meet the rest of the dysfunctional family: a husband who has a mistress and cares more about holding onto money than helping his children; the youngest son, who runs around in an elephant costume and watches porn with his friend; and a daughter who wants to get married but doesn't have the money for a dowry, finding a solution in her imagination. A delightful film with both humor and depth.
